Meet the Founder

Close-up of a middle-aged man with a beard and short dark hair, smiling outdoors with trees in the background, wearing a white collared shirt. This is Menno Koehoorn, CEO and founder of TechMist Spray Solutions.

Born in Holland, Menno immigrated to Canada at the age of nine. He launched his first business in horticultural consulting and landscaping right after high school. During slower periods, he took on greenhouse cleaning projects using pressure washers. Frustrated by the inefficiencies of traditional methods, he dedicated years to on-site testing and refinement, ultimately developing the STREAM washing cart system. These innovative, portable, and high-powered carts dramatically reduced cleaning times, transforming greenhouse maintenance from weeks to just days.

When British Columbia’s forests faced a severe pine beetle infestation, Menno turned his problem-solving focus to biotechnology. He developed an effective tree protection solution and went on to partner with Canadian universities and industry leaders to test and advance SPARC—a groundbreaking technology that harnesses gaseous super-charged hydroxyl particles. This system reaches deep into inaccessible nooks and crannies where conventional scrubbing or spraying cannot.

The company now delivers fast, effective, and environmentally responsible solutions that are helping reshape modern agriculture and biosecurity practices worldwide. Menno continues to lead TechMist Spray Solutions as CEO, working alongside his sons who are actively involved in the family business.

Poultry Farms

When TechMist was founded in the early 2000s, avian influenza was a major threat to poultry farmers. We stepped in to help clean and disinfect contaminated barns during those challenging times.

Today, our mobile SPARC unit can be deployed to poultry barns, delivering a complete refresh of the entire space between flocks and significantly reducing a spectrum of pests including harmful bacteria, pathogens, insects, and rodents.

Unlike traditional chemical disinfectants that can leave behind harmful residues—often making their way into a bird’s gut biome—SPARC is residual-free. This makes it a much safer and cleaner solution for the birds and the overall operation.

Our dosing is tailored to meet each farm’s specific needs. In cases of high mortality or significant disease pressure from the previous flock, we can deliver a more intensive treatment. For routine maintenance and lighter refreshes, we provide a light dose. Whatever the situation, TechMist is there to support you.

Greenhouse Industry

TechMist has partnered with leading agricultural operations in the Netherlands, Mexico, and Ontario, delivering proven solutions to combat plant pathogens and fungal outbreaks.

Our advanced SPARC units are engineered to disinfect dozens of acres efficiently and effectively. Using a measured dose, SPARC can significantly reduce bacteria, viruses, fungi, and a wide range of harmful pathogens that can damage crops; Namely, Rugose, Clavibacter, Mosaic Virus, and Pithum and Fusarium.

Dosing is fully scalable and customizable to match each grower’s unique situation. We provide intensive treatments for heavy insect pressure or significant pathogen buildup, and lighter, preventive doses for routine maintenance and ongoing crop health.

Whatever the challenge, TechMist delivers reliable, tailored support to help you maintain healthy, productive spaces.

Mold & Odor Removal

At TechMist’s headquarters in British Columbia, we are no strangers to the province’s extreme seasonal challenges. Flood season lasts for months, with heavy rainfall and overflowing rivers putting thousands of homes at risk.

Then, during the dry summer months, large wildfires frequently sweep through communities. Even the houses that escape the flames are often left battling severe smoke damage, with stubborn odors that are notoriously difficult to remove and the constant threat of mold growth in damp conditions.

That’s where our SPARC technology makes a powerful difference. We introduce the treatment into affected homes and use strategic fan circulation to ensure thorough penetration throughout the space.

This process helps remove persistent smoke odors, kills exposed mold, and helps restore indoor air quality — getting families back into safe, livable homes.
